Orange County Biomedical Equipment Technicians Society Vol. 4 No 6 October 1997 OC BMETS October Meeting OC BMETS meeting on Tuesday October 14th was held at Garden Grove Regional Hospital and Medical Center . Our host was ZOLL Medical Corporation. The agenda presented was ZOLL’s 40 years of Leadership- A Brief History. ZOLL produces defibrillators, which simplify operations, offer superior pacing, speed of defibrillation and support for all hospital departments with a wide range of products. 1952 marked the first use of cardiac pacing, using techniques developed by Dr. Paul Zoll, MD. Founder of ZOLL Medical Corporation. The first clinical use of external defibrillation was done in 1956. The first comurcial product ZOLL introduced was the ZOLL NTP 1000, a noninvasive temporary pacing unit. ZOLL produces a line of defibrillators which by design are focused on simplifying operation, speeding defibrillation, and superior pacing. All products offer standardized controls to reduce operator error and decrease training cost. ZOLL offers a unique PreConnect/Speed Pack which allows attachment of pads to the defibrillator in advance of need, without compromising shelf life or efficacy. ZOLL also offers superior pacing with a patented Long-Pulse duration, constant current pacing waveform. This waveform offers the highest documented capture rates at levels that improve patient comfort. ZOLL's equipment warranty is 5 years. The defibrillators are all small, light in weight, and utilize a a sealed lead acid battery that offers lower maintenance cost.
