Having been to most of the OCBMETS meetings over the past 8 years, I can say conclusively "This was a great meeting". What a turn out and what a fantastic speaker, Malcolm Ridgeway was as dynamic as ever. He talked for almost 2 hours but it seemed like half of that. The topic, Clinical Engineering through the years. He started at the turn of the century. Slowly he wove his way through the years --teaching, entertaining and prophesizing. For those never having heard Malcolm speak before, were in awe. For those of us that had, we were captivated. The low point of the night was obvious to most. Malcolm looked at the clock and said wow where did the time go. After an all to brief question and answer period we adjourned. I would like to highlight one of the questions asked and the answer. Question: What is your opinion on certification. Answer: And I Paraphrase " I think certification is O.K, but the days of having to know how a kidney works may not be as critical or as significant as knowing how a LAN works. I commend Malcolm for his courage and his foresight. I concur 100 & 10 PERCENT.
